Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured residents that his administration will soon commence the rehabilitation of Mechanic and Peanut roads in Benin City as part of efforts to decongest the persistent traffic gridlock along the Sapele Road axis of the state capital.

The governor gave the assurance during a visit to the headquarters of Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International (RACAi) on Sapele Road, Benin City.

According to him, officials of the Edo State Ministry of Works will assess the roads and commence the necessary repairs to ensure residents enjoy better and more motorable roads across the state.

Okpebholo said his administration remains committed to making Edo State safe, peaceful and conducive for residents and visitors alike, noting that the government has intensified efforts to combat cult-related activities across the state.

The governor also expressed appreciation to the President and Founder of RACAi, Pastor Charles Osazuwa, for his prayers and support, recalling that the cleric had prophesied his emergence as governor before the election.

Responding to Pastor Osazuwa’s appeal for the declaration of a state thanksgiving day, Governor Okpebholo acknowledged God’s faithfulness to Edo State and announced that the request had been approved.

Earlier in his sermon titled “The Force of Expectation,” Pastor Osazuwa urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and trust in God despite the nation’s current challenges.

Drawing his message from Jeremiah 20:11, Genesis 2:7 and Genesis 18:14, the cleric expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its socio-economic and political difficulties.

Pastor Osazuwa also appealed to the governor to prioritise the rehabilitation of Mechanic and Peanut roads, describing them as strategic routes that would significantly reduce traffic congestion on Sapele Road.

He further called on the governor to institutionalise a day of thanksgiving for Edo State and ensure that future administrations sustain the initiative.

The governor also worshipped at Winners Chapter Church on Sapele Road during his visit.
