Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has praised the people and leaders of Ewu Kingdom in Esan Central Local Government Area for maintaining peace and stability despite the ongoing kingship dispute involving His Royal Highness, Barrister Razak Ojeifo, and Prince Jafaru Israel Ojeifo.
The governor’s commendation was delivered by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Musa Yakubu, when a delegation of Ewu leaders paid a courtesy visit to the Government House in Benin City.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Okpebholo, Yakubu lauded the maturity, restraint and peaceful disposition displayed by the people of Ewu throughout the dispute. He noted that their conduct had helped avert a breakdown of law and order while creating an enabling environment for dialogue and a lasting resolution of the matter.
He reassured the delegation of the governor’s commitment to promoting justice, fairness and enduring peace across all communities in Edo State.
Yakubu also acknowledged the concerns and requests presented by the delegation, assuring them that Governor Okpebholo would give the issues the attention they deserve.
“I want to assure you that your concerns have been noted and will be conveyed to the governor. You will receive responses as soon as possible. Governor Okpebholo remains committed to peace, development and the well-being of every community in Edo State,” he said.
Earlier, the Secretary of the Ewu Development Association, Professor Bartholomew Uzoya Akagbosu, expressed appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for the developmental projects being executed in Ewu Kingdom and other parts of Esanland.
He commended the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and the welfare of residents, noting that the people of Ewu have continued to benefit from the governor’s people-focused policies.
Professor Akagbosu, however, appealed to the governor to intervene in the kingship dispute to facilitate a peaceful and lasting resolution between the two royal contenders.
According to him, resolving the issue would further strengthen unity, stability and development in the kingdom.
The visit concluded with renewed assurances of collaboration between the Edo State Government and the people of Ewu Kingdom as efforts continue to promote peace, development and harmonious coexistence across the state.
