The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the residence of Olusegun Alebiosu, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Nigeria (FBN).

Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed that Alebiosu reported the incident to the police on May 7, 2026, after a security guard at his Lagos residence received the parcel.

According to the police chief, the parcel was opened and found to contain two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, a discovery that immediately raised concerns and prompted a police investigation.

Fatai described the matter as a serious case requiring a thorough and meticulous investigation.

“The MD reported that a parcel delivered to his residence was received by his security guard. When it was opened, two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were found inside, which naturally aroused suspicion,” he said.

The commissioner added that although Alebiosu had mentioned individuals he suspected might be connected to the incident, no arrests had been made so far.

“Presently, I can confirm that the matter is still under investigation. It is a serious case, and the investigation needs to be thorough. No suspect is in custody at the moment, even though the MD has mentioned some people he suspects may be behind it. Those remain his suspicions, and we are working to establish the facts,” Fatai stated.

The police commissioner confirmed the development while responding to questions from journalists regarding reports of the suspicious parcel.

Fatai also revealed that the command had recorded significant successes in its recent operations across the state. He said operatives arrested several criminal suspects and recovered a range of items, including 14 firearms, four live cartridges, 51 mobile phones, one motorcycle, 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms, and vandalised electrical cables.
