WARRI, Delta State — The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, on Saturday conducted an on-the-spot assessment tour of preparations for the activities marking his fifth coronation anniversary.
The inspection, which formed part of the monarch’s fitness regimen, was aimed at assessing the level of preparedness ahead of the 10-day anniversary celebration scheduled to take place from August 14 to August 23, 2026, in Warri, Delta State.
The 5th Coronation Anniversary of Ogiame Atuwatse III is expected to bring together members of the Itsekiri community, dignitaries, cultural stakeholders and visitors for a celebration of the monarch’s five years of royal leadership.
According to the organisers, the anniversary will focus on heritage, unity and progress, with the theme encapsulated in the slogan: “One People. One Language. One King.”
The celebration will officially commence with a Praise Day on Friday, August 14, featuring live ministrations by prominent gospel artistes, including Mercy Chinwo, Frank Edwards, Nosa Omoregie and Mairo Ese.
Activities will continue through August 23, with the organisers describing the celebration as a global homecoming and cultural gathering designed to showcase the rich heritage and unity of the Warri Kingdom.
The Olu’s inspection of the preparations underscores the importance attached to ensuring that facilities, logistics and other arrangements are ready ahead of the anniversary celebrations.
