The newly deployed Edo State Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, Prof. Ikponmwosa Ignatius Omorodion, has assumed office with a pledge to promote teamwork, unity and collective responsibility in driving the growth of the state’s oil and gas sector.
Omorodion formally assumed duty at the Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources in Benin City, where he was received by the ministry’s management team.
Addressing directors and staff, the commissioner described his deployment as a call to service and urged personnel to work collectively towards achieving the ministry’s mandate.
He emphasised the importance of unity, cooperation and shared responsibility, stressing that a cohesive workforce was critical to delivering sustainable results.
“It is only when we have a strong team that we can attain success,” he said.
Omorodion also promised to operate an open-door policy, encouraging directors and staff to freely share ideas, observations and constructive suggestions capable of improving the ministry’s performance and strengthening service delivery.
He directed the various departments to submit detailed briefs on their activities, achievements, challenges and existing gaps.
According to him, the briefs would provide a clear understanding of the ministry’s operations and help identify areas requiring strategic intervention.
Earlier, the ministry’s management team formally welcomed the commissioner and briefed him on its mandate, organisational structure and key areas of operation.
The team highlighted the ministry’s responsibilities, including promoting investment across the oil and gas value chain, advancing gas development and utilisation, strengthening collaboration with industry stakeholders, supporting host community development and implementing relevant government policies.
Omorodion’s assumption of office marks a new phase for the Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources, with a renewed focus on teamwork, accountability, collaboration and effective service delivery in advancing Edo State’s oil and gas development agenda.
