The Delta State House of Assembly has emphasized that collaboration between the legislature and the executive arm of government remains pivotal in promoting good governance and delivering legacy projects across the state.

This assertion was made by Chairman of the House Committee on Warri/Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency, Hon. Prince Emeka Osamuta, during an oversight visit to project sites in the mandate areas of the Agency.

Hon. Osamuta, who led the delegation comprising Vice Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Emakpor Edafe, and members Hon. Esenwah Frank, Hon. Chukwudi Dafe, and Hon. Obire Benson, expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded by the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency within two years.

The committee had earlier visited the office of the agency for a first-hand briefing on ongoing projects.

The lawmaker explained that oversight functions are constitutional responsibilities empowering the legislature to make laws, appropriate budgets, and inspect projects across the state.

He commended the agency for completing eleven out of seventeen projects awarded by the Delta State Government, describing the quality of work as impressive.

Hon. Osamuta assured that the House, under the leadership of Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, would continue to provide the needed legislative support to ensure the success of the agency’s mandate.

Osamuta lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his developmental strides, particularly the massive underground sewage and drainage systems in Warri, Uvwie, and environs, which have significantly reduced flooding and improved living conditions for residents.

The Chairman of the Committee appealed to residents to desist from dumping refuse into drainages, urging a change of attitude to sustain government investments in infrastructure.

Members representing Uvwie and Warri South 11 Constituencies, Hon Edafe Emakpor and Hon. Benson Obire, also commended the governor for addressing the perennial flooding challenges in their areas and pledged continued support for the “More Agenda” of the Oborevwori administration.

Director General of the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency, Prince Godwin Ejinyere, appreciated the committee’s visit, noting that it would motivate the agency to deliver more on its mandate.

He highlighted the ongoing flood control projects in Effurun and Warri, expansion of the NNPC Housing Complex Road, and the asphalt overlay of Ekpan Link Road as major interventions easing traffic and improving the environment.

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, commended the state government, the Assembly Committee, and the Agency for their commitment to the development of Warri South, pledging continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to attract more development to his locality.
