Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has distanced himself from a statement circulating on social media regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Delta Central Senatorial District, describing the publication as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on his behalf by Victor Oshioke, Senator Oshiomhole said his attention had been drawn to a viral report captioned: “2027: Oshiomhole blasts Oborevwori, Sheriff for fighting Omo-Agege against choice of Urhobo.”
According to him, the publication falsely attributed comments to him, alleging that he accused Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, of being involved in a conspiracy aimed at frustrating the emergence of an Urhobo man as Senate President.
Oshiomhole categorically denied making such remarks, stressing that he had never issued any statement concerning the APC primary election in Delta Central Senatorial District or the political issues referenced in the report.
“The claim is entirely false and should be disregarded by the public,” the statement said.
The senator urged members of the public, political stakeholders, and media practitioners to verify information from credible sources before sharing or publishing reports capable of misleading the public and creating unnecessary political tension.
He reaffirmed his commitment to responsible political engagement and cautioned against the spread of misinformation, especially on social media platforms where unverified claims can gain traction rapidly.
Oshiomhole maintained that any official position or statement from him would be communicated through recognized channels and authorized representatives.
