The Coalition of Federal Pensioners of Nigeria has announced plans for a nationwide naked protest to demand the payment of outstanding pension increment arrears and palliative allowances owed to its members.
In a statement issued on Friday in Lagos, the coalition’s National Chairman, Mr. Mukaila Ogunbote—who also heads the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, NIPOST Chapter—said the protest is scheduled for December 8, unless the Federal Government releases the unpaid arrears beforehand.
Ogunbote explained that the pensioners are demanding immediate payment of a N32,000 pension increment and a N25,000 palliative allowance approved since 2023.
“The Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant General are not taking us seriously, so all pensioners must come out en masse to fight this injustice,” he said.
