A Liberia-based cleric, Pastor EK Duodu of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), has cautioned preachers of the Gospel against living contrary to the messages they proclaim, warning that inconsistency in character and conduct can destroy years of spiritual labour and influence.
In a statement shared with believers, the cleric stressed that true Christian leadership is not measured only by eloquent sermons, church growth, or popularity, but by a life that reflects humility, obedience, truth, and godly character.
Quoting Bonaventura, Pastor Duodu stated, “A man who does not practice what he preaches destroys what he builds.”
He noted that while many ministers dedicate themselves to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the greatest message is often conveyed not merely through words, but through personal example and integrity.
According to him, the world pays closer attention to the actions of believers than to their speeches, making it essential for preachers, teachers, evangelists, and Christians in general to live according to the principles they teach.
“God is not only looking for gifted voices; He is looking for faithful hearts,” he said.
The cleric urged Christian leaders to ensure that their lifestyles remain consistent with biblical teachings so that their ministries can stand the test of time and continue to bring glory to God.
He further encouraged believers to become “living testimonies” of the Word of God, emphasizing that genuine faith must be visible in daily conduct and relationships.
