The pupils and teachers who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom following a rescue operation by security agencies.
The development was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on X.
“Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oriire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies,” Onanuga wrote.
He added that one of the rescued teachers expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the security agencies for their efforts in securing their release.
In a video shared alongside the announcement, the Principal of Community High School, Rachael Alamu, thanked the President and the security personnel involved in the operation.
“President sir, our father, we are grateful. We understand your commitment to our safety and we appreciate all you did for us. And every security operative, they tried so much and that is why we are still alive by now. God bless you,” she said.
The successful rescue brings relief to the victims’ families and the wider community after days of uncertainty over their safety.
