A peaceful protest was recorded today along the Auchi Bypass, in Benin City, Edo State at BEDC’s Ramat office, and the BEDC Head Office following a prolonged power outage affecting several communities.
The demonstration followed the reported disconnection of a 33KVA power line, which has resulted in electricity supply interruption across 18 communities. Residents from the affected areas gathered to express their concerns and call for urgent intervention to restore power supply.
Participants stated that the prolonged outage has disrupted daily activities and economic livelihoods within the communities.
The protest remained orderly, with community members appealing to the relevant authorities and electricity distribution company for prompt resolution of the situation.
As of the time of this report, residents await official communication regarding steps being taken to address the power supply challenge
