The joint screening of nominees for Ibusa’s newly established community security structures continued on Friday at the Ibusa Divisional Police Station, as security agencies and community leaders intensified efforts to ensure a credible and transparent selection process.

According to the Press Secretary, Oshimili North Local Government Area, Comr. Chiedu Bandoh, Senior officers drawn from the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) jointly conducted the vetting exercise alongside recognized community leaders.

The screening focused on prospective members of two newly approved security outfits — the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps and the Ibusa Community Peacekeepers (ICP). Both groups were recently authorized by the Oshimili North Local Government Area to strengthen grassroots security and serve as complementary partners to conventional law enforcement agencies.

According to officials, the ongoing exercise is part of broader reforms initiated by the Hon. Innocent Esewezie-led Oshimili North Local Government Council, which earlier dissolved the former community security groups following concerns that they had been compromised.

Friday’s session specifically screened nominees from the Otu-Iyase geo-traditional zone, marking the successful conclusion of the first phase of what authorities described as a comprehensive and multi-layered vetting process.

The local government assured residents that only individuals of proven integrity, discipline, and community acceptance would be considered eligible to serve in the new security formations.
