THE ALMIGHTY QUESTION: “WHERE ARE YOU?”-Pst Alexander Edun

A question is defined as a sentence intended to elicit information or provoke reflection. The Almighty’s first recorded question to humanity was not about power, wealth, or achievement. It was deeply personal:

“Where are you?” — Genesis 3:9

When God asked Adam this question, it was not because He lacked knowledge of Adam’s location. The Almighty is all-knowing. Rather, the question was an invitation for Adam to confront his condition — to recognize his spiritual state and take responsibility for it.

Today, that same question echoes across generations.

Where are you?

Where are you — leaders, influencers, professionals, public servants, young people, families?

Where are you in your relationship with your Creator?

Where are you as a single man or woman?

Where are you as a husband, wife, parent, or child?

Are you aligned with the purpose for which you were created?

King David rejoiced in the presence of the Lord. He understood that true fulfillment comes from dwelling in God’s will. The question remains urgent and personal:

Are you where God wants you to be?

Three Steps to Answer the Almighty Question

1. Acceptance

The first step is honest responsibility.

Do not pass blame for your present condition. Scripture shows us a powerful example in King David. When confronted by the prophet Nathan, David did not defend himself. He said simply:

“I have sinned.” — 2 Samuel 12:13

Acceptance is the doorway to restoration. Acknowledge your faults. Turn away from excuses. As Isaiah 1:18 reminds us, God invites us to reason with Him and return.

Healing begins where honesty begins.

2. Believe

Acceptance leads to recognition: we cannot save ourselves.

We need a Savior — and that Savior is Jesus Christ.

Belief is not merely intellectual agreement; it is surrender. It is repentance — a turning away from everything that separates us from God. Scripture urges us to flee from idolatry and anything that competes with God in our hearts (1 Corinthians 10:14; 2 Corinthians 6:16–18).

Belief restores alignment with divine purpose.

3. Confession

Confession is the act of bringing darkness into light.

“Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” — Proverbs 28:13

Through prayer and open declaration of faith (Romans 10:9–10), we affirm our trust in God’s forgiveness. Confession is not humiliation — it is liberation. It positions us to receive guidance, restoration, and direction for our destiny.

When God calls again, the prepared heart answers:

“Here I am, Lord.”

A Personal Invitation

The Almighty’s question is not meant to condemn — it is meant to awaken.

It is an invitation to return.

To realign.

To rediscover purpose.

To walk in fellowship with your Creator.

So pause for a moment.

Reflect honestly.

And answer the question only you can answer:

Where are you?
