The discovery of three young women in a locked apartment in Jeddo, Delta State, has sparked concern and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding their deaths, with authorities yet to establish the cause.
The bodies of the three women, aged 20, 20 and 22, were reportedly discovered in an apartment at New City Layout, Jeddo, in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, after the mother of one of them allegedly became worried when she could not reach her daughter by telephone.
The deceased were found inside the apartment occupied by Precious, a young hair vendor popularly known as Beauty Goddess, after the door was reportedly forced open.
The incident came to public attention on Friday, October 16, 2026, although accounts from residents suggested that the women might have died several days before their bodies were discovered.
Their bodies were reportedly evacuated in the early hours of Saturday.
The circumstances surrounding their final hours remain unclear, as differing accounts have circulated among residents and on social media.
Conflicting accounts surround deaths
Residents who spoke about the incident reportedly described seeing the three women in different parts of the apartment when they were discovered.
Items said to have been found in the room included malt drink cans, a pack of cake and substances that some residents identified as suspected drugs. However, these descriptions have not been independently verified, and the presence of such items does not establish what caused the deaths.
A generator was also reportedly seen in an area adjoining the apartment, prompting speculation about possible exposure to fumes.
The possibility of generator fumes causing the deaths has been raised, but no official finding confirming this explanation was provided in the available account.
Other claims circulating in the community have also fuelled speculation. However, there is no verified evidence in the information available to establish that the deaths were connected to a criminal or ritual activity.
The cause of death remains unconfirmed, making the outcome of any police investigation and medical examination crucial to determining what happened.
Mother reportedly discovered the bodies
According to accounts from residents, the tragedy came to light after the mother of one of the women became concerned that she had been unable to reach her daughter for days.
Her search reportedly led her to the apartment, where she discovered the three women unresponsive.
Precious was said to have moved into the compound a few months before the incident. Some residents described her as relatively reserved, noting that they mainly saw her when she left or returned to the premises.
“They don’t mix up. They just come in and go out,” one resident was quoted as saying about the young hair vendor.
Another resident, identified as Titus, reportedly said the two other women were visitors rather than permanent occupants of the apartment.
He claimed that the women had returned from an outing on Wednesday and appeared to be enjoying themselves before the incident.
One of the deceased was also reportedly said to have completed her tertiary education and recently concluded her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
The identities of all three women had not been publicly confirmed by the police in the account available.
Investigation needed to establish what happened
The discovery has left residents seeking answers about what happened between the women’s reported return from an outing and the discovery of their bodies.
While speculation has focused on possible generator fumes and alleged substances found in the apartment, neither explanation should be treated as established without confirmation from the relevant authorities.
The findings of medical examinations, forensic investigations and police inquiries will be essential in determining the cause of death and whether any criminal wrongdoing occurred.
Until such findings are made public, the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the three young women remain unresolved.
