Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their goodwill and support as he marked his 74th birthday, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to national progress despite ongoing challenges.
In a personal message released from Aso Villa on March 29, 2026, the president thanked citizens for their prayers, messages, and public displays of affection, including those conveyed through newspapers, radio, and television.
Tinubu also acknowledged the support of his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their kind remarks on the occasion.
Reflecting on the state of the nation, the president noted that he chose to celebrate his birthday in a subdued manner in consideration of the country’s current mood. He pointed to the challenges faced since the introduction of his administration’s reforms but expressed optimism that the sacrifices made are beginning to yield results.
According to him, recent progress offers “a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel,” despite temporary setbacks linked to global developments, including the ongoing Middle East crisis.
Tinubu emphasized that the achievements recorded so far are a collective effort involving his administration and the Nigerian people, rather than the work of government alone.
Looking ahead to the third anniversary of his administration, he reiterated his belief that Nigeria is on course toward a brighter future. He assured citizens of his government’s determination to tackle existing challenges and called for continued unity and support.
The president concluded by urging Nigerians to work together in building a stronger, more prosperous, and resilient nation that will stand as a source of pride across Africa.
