Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with leading international investors in Paris, where he outlined his administration’s economic reform agenda, stressing transparency, fiscal discipline, and policy stability.

According to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the engagement focused on building investor confidence and explaining the rationale behind the government’s swift implementation of key reforms.

At the meeting, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, pointed to Nigeria’s economic performance, noting that the country recorded 11.2% GDP growth in dollar terms in 2025. He said the figure strengthens Nigeria’s ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

Oyedele added that the government’s immediate priority is to ensure that ongoing reforms translate into tangible benefits for citizens, while also committing to the publication of quarterly financial data to enhance transparency.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Debt Management Office, Patience Oniha, assured investors of Nigeria’s prudent approach to borrowing, emphasising sustainable debt management practices.

The investor group included representatives from Citibank, Amundi led by Valerie Baudson, BlueCrest Capital Management, Ninety One, Kirkoswald Capital, Principal Finisterre, Prudential Global Investment Management, and Mesarete Capital.

President Tinubu, who is currently on a three-nation trip, said his administration’s reform programme is designed to eliminate structural inefficiencies, stabilise macroeconomic conditions, and drive inclusive growth.

He further pledged to deepen reforms, improve transparency in the oil sector, and strengthen national security through measures such as police decentralisation and efforts to curb terrorist financing.

“The focus remains on policy stability and diligent execution to ensure these strategic shifts translate into concrete benefits for all Nigerians,” Tinubu stated.

Some investors at the meeting praised the government’s reform efforts and expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic outlook. In response to a question about his post-2027 plans, the President reiterated his commitment to sustaining fiscal discipline, transparency, and policy consistency.
