Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the N29.8 billion naira 11-kilometre Aboh–Akarai Road and a bridge across the Okiri River in Ndokwa East Local Government Area on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Asaba, noting that the project marks a significant step in the state government’s efforts to enhance rural infrastructure and connectivity.

According to Aniagwu, the Aboh–Akarai Road project, which includes a bridge spanning the Okiri River, is part of a broader package of infrastructural developments approved for the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.

He explained that the commencement of the projects underscores the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to equitable development and improved access for rural communities, particularly in riverine and hard-to-reach areas.

Aniagwu further listed other road projects slated for execution within the constituency to include the Inam–Abbi Road, Ogbedigbo–Afor Road, Ebendo–Iyasele–Abala Road, and the Ogbe-Ogume–Ebendo Road (Phase 1).

Additional projects include the access road to the Kwale Free Trade Zone, Utage–Uno/Eweshi Utagba–Uno Road, Ushie Township Roads, as well as the Amai–Aragba Road in Ukwuani Local Government Area.

He emphasized that the projects are expected to boost socio-economic activities, improve transportation, and open up rural communities for greater economic participation.

The groundbreaking ceremony is expected to attract government officials, community leaders, and residents from across the Ndokwa East axis and beyond.
