KANO — The Kano State House of Assembly was thrown into mourning yesterday following the sudden deaths of two serving lawmakers, Aminu Sa’ad of Ungogo Constituency and Sarki Aliyu Daneji of Kano Municipal Constituency, who reportedly died within an hour of each other.
The death of Aminu Sa’ad was first announced, sending shockwaves through the Assembly. Barely an hour later, news broke of the passing of Sarki Aliyu Daneji, compounding the grief across the state’s political landscape.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson to Governor Abba Yusuf, Sanusi Bature, announced Daneji’s death via his verified Facebook page. He wrote: “From Allah we come and to Him we shall return. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, member representing Kano Municipal at the Kano State House of Assembly, died today an hour after the death of his counterpart.”
As of press time, the causes of death of the two lawmakers had not been officially disclosed.
