At last, the Palace of the Oba of Benin has officially given her blessings to the IYEKIS, who were duly elected in the Edo traditional way.
However, those Iyeki with existing factions in their respective markets have been disqualified.
The Palace has directed them to conduct fresh election and choose their IYEKIS in accordance with age old Edo customs and traditions within two weeks.
