US Vice President JD Vance has praised outgoing White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, describing her as “one of the most effective voices” in defending President Donald Trump and his administration.
Vance, reacting to the announcement of Leavitt’s departure from the White House, said she had handled one of the administration’s most demanding roles with grace and resilience while facing sustained scrutiny from the media.
“Karoline Leavitt has one of the hardest jobs in the Administration — dealing with the relentless attacks from the fake news media. She did the job with grace, wit and a smile on her face,” Vance said.
He also credited Leavitt with effectively communicating and defending Trump’s agenda throughout her tenure as press secretary.
Vance acknowledged the personal demands of the position, particularly as Leavitt balances her responsibilities in government with raising a young family.
“I’m sad to see her go, but I know she’ll continue to do great things,” the vice president said.
Leavitt, who is stepping down at the end of the month, recently welcomed her second child and has said that balancing motherhood with the demanding responsibilities of White House press secretary influenced her decision to leave the role.
Trump has described Leavitt as one of his most trusted aides and said she would remain one of his top outside advisers and an influential voice within the Republican Party.
Her successor as White House press secretary has yet to be announced.
