Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, Member representing Ethiope East/Ethiope West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has declared that she and her supporters remain resolute despite the violence that marred Saturday’s All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Congress in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a strongly worded statement issued in the aftermath of the incident, the lawmaker said the events that unfolded during the congress would not deter her commitment to peace, service, and democratic engagement.
“With all that happened… one thing remains clear: we are unshaken,” she stated, emphasizing that intimidation and hostility would not define her political resolve.
The APC congress in Ethiope West was disrupted by reported violence, raising concerns among party faithful and political observers within the state. While tensions reportedly escalated during the exercise, Ibori-Suenu maintained that resilience, not fear, would shape her response.
“The noise did not define us. The hostility did not weaken us. The intimidation did not silence us,” she said, adding that attempts to discourage her camp only strengthened their unity.
The federal lawmaker stressed that her approach would not be driven by retaliation or chaos. “We do not respond to violence with fear. We respond with courage. We do not bow to chaos. We rise with dignity,” she declared.
Reaffirming her dedication to peaceful political participation, Ibori-Suenu said her commitment to service remains firm and her faith unbreakable despite the challenges.
“We stand tall not because the storm was small, but because our foundation is solid… Stronger. Wiser. Focused. And we move forward,” she concluded.
Hon. Ibori-Suenu currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
