Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has said that the House will continue to prioritize the interest of Deltans and provide legislative backing for the effective implementation of government programmes and policies.

Rt Hon Guwor stated this in the hallowed chamber of the Assembly in his remarks on two Executive Bills that were read the third time and passed during Thursday’s plenary of the House.

The bills are the Revised Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2025, and the Bill for a Law to Amend the Public and Private Properties Protection Law, Cap P26, Laws of Delta State, 2006.

The Speaker who hailed the prompt actions on legislative processing of the two bills, commended members for their diligence and bipartisan support during the consideration and passage of the proposed legislations.

On the ‘Revised Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2025’, Rt Hon Guwor explained that the realignment was to ensure better funding for priority projects and programmes across the state.

“Distinguished Colleagues, I sincerely appreciate your contributions and active participation in the passage of the Revised Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2025. It reflects our collective resolve to place the interest of Deltans above every other competing demand”, he stated.

The Speaker noted that despite the realignment in the supplementary bill, the overall 2025 Delta State Budget remains unchanged at One Trillion, One Hundred and Seventy-Nine Billion, Two Hundred and Twenty-Eight Million, Eight Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Seven Hundred and Nineteen Naira.

On the Amendment to the Public and Private Properties Protection Law, Guwor explained that the amendment will strengthen the legal framework for safeguarding public infrastructure, private investments, and the property rights of all Deltans.

“The passage of this bill again underscores our commitment as Members of the Legislature to peace, tranquility, respect and good governance in the state. This amendment will enhance enforcement, deterring acts of vandalism, illegal occupation and destruction of property. It will also promote a safe and conducive environment for investment and development in Delta State”, the Speaker stated.

Rt Hon Guwor, who is the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, thanked members for their valuable contributions that led to the successful passage of both bills.

“Once again, thank you dear colleagues for your unwavering support”, he added.
