Pastor Charles Osazuwa of Rock of Ages Christian Assembly, Benin City, has urged Christians, particularly those entrusted with leadership and influence, to remain humble, spiritually grounded and committed to God’s purpose.
Osazuwa gave the charge while teaching on “How to Sustain Your Priesthood & Kingship,” where he stressed that positions of influence should not be pursued for personal status but used to fulfil God’s purpose on earth.
According to him, God does not elevate people merely to occupy positions but gives them influence and authority to advance His purpose.
“You were not enthroned for yourself. God did not lift you simply to give you a position; He lifted you to fulfil His purpose on the earth. Position is not status; position is purpose,” he said.
The cleric explained that while kingship represents influence, priesthood is essential for maintaining purity, alignment and submission to God.
He warned that neglecting one’s spiritual responsibilities while pursuing influence could ultimately undermine the very authority one has been entrusted with.
“Kingship gives you influence, but priesthood keeps you pure, aligned, and submitted to God,” Osazuwa said.
He also identified pride as one of the greatest dangers confronting people who attain positions of authority, noting that success could make individuals celebrate their elevation while forgetting God, whom he described as the source of their influence.
Osazuwa cited James 4:6, which states that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, urging believers to continually examine themselves in accordance with the admonition in 2 Corinthians 13:5.
He advised those in positions of leadership to fear God, obey His instructions, remain humble and surround themselves with the right people and systems.
“Your throne may announce your position, but your altar sustains your reign,” Osazuwa declared.
