Governor Monday Okpebholo has strengthened public transportation in Edo State with the acquisition of 50 new luxury buses, popularly known as “Akpako Buses,” for the Edo City Transport Service (ECTS).
The latest addition is expected to boost the state’s transport network and improve mobility for residents across Edo.
The development comes less than two years into the Okpebholo administration and builds on the transport legacy initiated by former governor Adams Oshiomhole through the “Comrade Bus” scheme.
In another major transport initiative, the state government recently launched the New Edo Line with a fleet of 100 buses, marking a significant step toward reviving intercity transportation in the state.
Supporters of the administration say the move reflects Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to practical governance and people-oriented leadership, particularly in easing transportation challenges and improving public services.
Residents have continued to commend the administration’s investment in infrastructure and transportation, describing it as a sign of responsive leadership aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
A popular biblical quote shared by supporters reads: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.”
