The Edo State Fire Service has pledged its support to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) towards ensuring a safe and secure environment for the conduct of the 2027 general elections in the state.
The State Controller of the Edo State Fire Service, DCF Jeremiah Bidemi Ayoola, made the commitment during a familiarisation visit to the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Edo State, Mr Obo Effanga.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between INEC and the Edo State Fire Service, as well as promoting greater collaboration and mutual support between the two organisations.
During the meeting, Ayoola and members of her team reaffirmed the Fire Service’s readiness to cooperate with INEC in preparations for the forthcoming elections.
The team pledged to provide the necessary support within its mandate towards ensuring that election-related activities are conducted in a safe and secure environment.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for both organisations to explore ways of deepening inter-agency cooperation, particularly in the areas of emergency preparedness, safety and rapid response during electoral activities.
Effanga welcomed the visit, noting the importance of collaboration among relevant government agencies in ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of elections.
The meeting underscored the commitment of both INEC and the Edo State Fire Service to strengthening institutional partnerships ahead of the 2027 general elections.
