The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has assumed direct control of security operations in Sapele following the abduction of the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, pledging that authorities are working relentlessly to ensure the victim’s safe return.

According to a report by Joelson Wilson, the police chief carried out an on-site assessment of critical locations connected to the incident as part of a coordinated and urgent response by the Command.

During the visit, CP Oyeniyi inspected Debro Fred Guest House, identified as the location where the abduction reportedly occurred and believed to be the last place the chairman was seen before he was taken by armed men. The site is now a focal point for ongoing investigations.

The Commissioner also visited Ogorode Waterside, where security operatives had earlier recovered a vehicle suspected to have been used by the kidnappers. The vehicle is expected to provide valuable clues as investigators intensify intelligence gathering and forensic analysis.

Speaking during the assessment, CP Oyeniyi reassured residents that the police are fully committed to resolving the situation. He stated that the Command is acting on credible intelligence and working closely with other security agencies to secure the victim’s safe and unharmed release.

As part of his engagements, the police chief met with the family of the abducted chairman, offering words of comfort and assuring them that every possible effort is being made to bring him back safely.

He also visited medical facilities where individuals injured during the attack are receiving treatment, underscoring the Command’s concern for all those affected.

The incident has sparked concern across Sapele and surrounding areas, with reports indicating that heavily armed assailants carried out the operation swiftly, leaving several people injured.

CP Oyeniyi urged residents to remain calm and support ongoing efforts by providing useful and timely information to security agencies, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital to the success of the operation.

The Delta State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring the public that decisive measures are being taken to apprehend those responsible and reunite the victim with his family.
