The tragic incident, which occurred on Thursday, has sent shock waves across the Asaba community.
According to an eyewitness, the Odogwu (Chief Warrior) of Asaba, Obi Nwanze Oduah, suddenly collapsed at the reception held to mark the 70th birthday celebration of the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Epiphany Azinge (SAN).
“Oduah suddenly collapsed at the reception ground, causing panic among guests and dignitaries present at the event,” the witness said.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors reportedly confirmed him dead shortly after his arrival.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding his death remain sketchy
In the meantime, no communiqué or statement has been issued either by the family or by the Palace of the Asagba of Asaba.
