The Energy and Maritime Reporters of Nigeria (EMR), Akwa Ibom State Branch, will on Friday, June 26, 2026, hold a one-day capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing the knowledge and professional competence of journalists covering the energy and maritime sectors.
The workshop, scheduled to take place in Uyo, is themed, “Understanding the Operations of the International Oil Companies (IOCs) and Their Marine Logistics Services Companies in Akwa Ibom State Waterways.”
The training is designed to equip participants with a better understanding of the operational activities of International Oil Companies and the strategic role of marine logistics service providers in supporting oil and gas exploration, production and transportation across Akwa Ibom’s waterways.
Renowned industry experts, Mr. Sunny Udom and retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Joseph Udo, will serve as resource persons. They are expected to deliver presentations on industry operations, maritime security, stakeholder engagement and the economic importance of the energy and maritime sectors.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Chairman of EMR, Akwa Ibom State Branch, Harrison Ndifreke, who is also the Chief Host, said the workshop underscores the association’s commitment to promoting professionalism, continuous capacity development and accurate, informed reporting within the energy and maritime industries.
According to the organisers, the workshop will be held at Plot 51 G-Line, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Attendance is strictly by invitation and limited to members of the association.
The organisers expressed confidence that the training will further strengthen the capacity of energy and maritime journalists, equipping them with the expertise needed to provide insightful and balanced coverage of developments in the oil, gas and maritime sectors in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
