The Anambra State Government has stepped up its environmental sanitation campaign as the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra Brigade on Wednesday commenced a comprehensive clean-up exercise across major towns in the state.
The new operation, which includes strict enforcement of the no-street-trading directive, saw officials clearing illegal structures, removing roadside stalls, and sensitising traders on the need to maintain a cleaner, healthier environment.
According to the authorities, the move is part of a renewed effort to restore order, reduce waste accumulation, and promote public hygiene across Anambra’s urban centres.
Officials also warned that defaulters would face penalties as the state remains committed to enforcing environmental laws.
The government says the exercise will continue across all major markets and streets to ensure full compliance and sustain a cleaner, safer Anambra for residents and visitors.
