Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has said he would view the re-election of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara as politically damaging to him.

Wike made the remarks on Saturday while speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State. According to the former Rivers governor, decisions have already been taken regarding political alignments ahead of the next election cycle.

Referring to President Bola Tinubu, Wike said a choice had been made concerning future political support, adding that Fubara would not be considered for a second term.

“We have made a decision as far as Tinubu is concerned. The other one [Fubara] — no way,” Wike said.

He explained that supporting Fubara again would amount to a political error, which he said he was unwilling to repeat.

“If we make another mistake, then we will go and bury ourselves politically. I will not allow myself to be buried. I will not allow that mistake again,” he added.

Wike concluded by telling the audience that his position on the matter was final, saying, “So everybody should know we have made a decision.”
