The Delta State Government has redeployed the Principal of Sapele Technical College, Sapele, Mrs. Rosemary Itawansa (17 PEG), following observations made during an official monitoring exercise conducted by the Ministry of Technical Education.
According to a circular issued to the Permanent Secretary, Directors, and Principals of state-owned technical colleges, the Ministry’s inspection team visited the institution on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, during a routine second-term resumption monitoring exercise.
The Ministry stated that certain administrative and operational issues were observed during the visit. These included concerns about security arrangements at the school gate at the time of inspection, general environmental maintenance, and activities taking place within the school premises that required further administrative clarification. The inspection team also noted issues relating to fee collection practices, adherence to approved instructional guidelines for trade subjects, and overall administrative supervision.
In addition, the Ministry indicated that it was reviewing reports related to the deployment and supervision of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members assigned to the college.
The circular further noted that the Principal had previously received verbal advisories regarding administrative matters and that an earlier redeployment directive issued on January 19, 2024 (Ref. No. MTE/SQA/82/33), which reassigned her to Model Technical College, Obiaruku, had not been implemented. The Ministry stated that a response later submitted by the Principal, citing political engagements, was considered unsatisfactory within the context of public service regulations.
Based on these developments and in line with established administrative procedures, the Ministry approved the redeployment of Mrs. Itawansa from Sapele Technical College to the Ministry of Technical Education, Asaba, pending further posting. She has been directed to hand over responsibilities to the most senior teacher at the college and report to the Ministry on Monday, January 19, 2026.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining effective administration, accountability, and professionalism across all technical colleges in the state.
