Authorities in the United Kingdom have announced temporary road closures and airspace restrictions in Windsor ahead of the scheduled state visit of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu next week.

Tinubu and Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, are expected to arrive in the UK on Wednesday, March 18, where they will be hosted by Charles III at Windsor Castle.

In preparation for the visit, Thames Valley Police said it is working closely with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, the Royal Household and other security agencies to implement extensive security arrangements.

According to the police, existing airspace restrictions over Windsor will be extended on March 18 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. as part of broader measures designed to secure the high-profile event.

Chief Superintendent Adrian Hall of the force’s Joint Operations Unit said the measures are part of robust plans to ensure public safety during the visit.

“We will be taking a strong stance in enforcing the restrictions; anyone who breaches them will be committing a criminal offence under the Air Navigation Order and could be arrested,” Hall said.

He added that specialist teams, including search units, mounted officers, road policing teams and armed personnel, will be deployed across Windsor to support the security operation.
