Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent killings and abductions carried out by gunmen in parts of Plateau State and Kaduna State, describing the incidents as “barbaric” and “cowardly.”

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President denounced the attack in Angwan Rukuba district of Jos, as well as the assault on residents and wedding guests in Kahir village, located in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

President Tinubu said the attacks represent “an affront to all that Nigeria stands for,” stressing that those responsible would be brought to justice. He described the perpetrators as “heartless cowards” who target vulnerable communities under the cover of darkness, warning that such acts are often intended to provoke reprisals and escalate violence.

The President directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the attackers and also clamp down on the spread of misinformation capable of heightening tensions. He cautioned against narratives suggesting religious motivations behind the incidents, urging responsible reporting.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace, Tinubu emphasized the importance of public cooperation with security measures, including evacuation and relocation directives where necessary. He also acknowledged the safe return of two victims abducted in the Kaduna attack.

Calling for improved intelligence and proactive security responses, the President urged agencies to act swiftly on early warning signs to prevent further violence. He also ordered the immediate rescue of remaining abductees from Kahir village.

Tinubu commended Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their efforts in managing the crises and supporting rescue operations. He assured both state governments of continued federal support.

The President extended his condolences to families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery, noting that the government is investing in advanced security equipment to enhance real-time tracking and neutralization of criminal elements.
