Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has commended the contributions of Zamarr Institute to autism care and advocacy in Nigeria, calling for stronger institutional and legislative support for inclusive services.
The senator gave the commendation during a meeting with a delegation from the institute led by its Chief Executive Officer, Oluronke Katagum. The engagement focused on the organisation’s ongoing programmes and explored areas of collaboration aimed at expanding support for individuals on the autism spectrum.
According to reports, discussions also highlighted the institute’s planned fundraising dinner, an initiative designed to broaden access to specialised services and sustain programmes for children with special needs. The effort, stakeholders noted, aligns with the institute’s mission to close existing gaps in autism care and support nationwide.
Dafinone praised the organisation’s role in raising awareness and delivering tailored care, noting that its work contributes significantly to promoting inclusion and improving the quality of life for affected individuals and their families.
“I am deeply impressed by their commitment and the impact of their work,” the lawmaker said, stressing the need to recognise and support organisations dedicated to vulnerable populations.
He further underscored the importance of sustained policy and institutional backing to scale such initiatives, adding that stronger support systems would enhance their reach and long-term effectiveness.
Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive development, the senator called for collective action to ensure that children on the autism spectrum have access to the care, opportunities, and dignity they deserve.
