Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has congratulated Augustine Obiora Akubeze, the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City, on the occasion of his 20th Episcopal Anniversary marked on April 22, 2026.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Akhere Ebojele, the governor described the milestone as a reflection of Archbishop Akubeze’s enduring dedication to faith, service, and moral leadership.
Okpebholo noted that since his episcopal consecration in 2006, the Archbishop has demonstrated remarkable consistency in pastoral duties, institutional development, and community engagement, earning respect across religious and social circles.

According to the statement, the Archbishop’s episcopal motto, “Ut Testimonium Perhibeam Veritati” (“to bear witness to the truth”), underscores a ministry rooted in integrity, discipline, and service to humanity.
Governor Okpebholo further described the cleric as a steadfast moral voice whose influence has contributed to social harmony and inspired many within Edo State and beyond.
He joined members of the Catholic Church, the wider Christian community, and well-wishers in celebrating the Archbishop, offering prayers for continued strength, wisdom, and good health in his service to the Church and society.
