The Delta State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome killing of its Secretary General, Bishop Clarence Chinedu James, by suspected assassins.
Bishop James, who was also the General Overseer of Endtime Reconciliation Ministries in Asaba, the Delta State capital, was reportedly attacked and killed on Tuesday by unidentified assailants.
Sources revealed that the attackers fled the scene with the cleric’s vehicle after carrying out the deadly operation. Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident were still unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Reacting to the tragic development, the Delta PFN, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Director of Press, Pastor Malcolm Oteri, described the killing as shocking, tragic, and unbelievable.
Speaking on behalf of the state chairman, Bishop Abos Willie, the fellowship called for an urgent and thorough investigation into the murder, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
The statement also disclosed that two suspects, including the late bishop’s driver, had been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command and were currently undergoing interrogation.
PFN further appealed to the Inspector General of Police to direct security operatives in the state to intensify efforts toward uncovering the circumstances behind the killing.
“The Delta State Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has received with shock the news of the brutal killing of its General Secretary, Bishop Clarence Chinedu James,” the statement read.
It added that the late cleric lost his life on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, during an attack by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Asaba.
The incident has reportedly plunged the Pentecostal community in Delta State into deep mourning.
