The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area following a deadly attack in the Gari Ya Waye community of Angwan Rukuba that left several people dead and others injured.
The curfew, which was announced in collaboration with security agencies, took effect from midnight on Sunday, March 29, 2026, and will remain in force until April 1, 2026.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, the government condemned the incident, describing it as a “barbaric and unprovoked attack” on innocent residents.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, according to the statement, assured citizens that security agencies have been mobilised to restore order and track down those responsible for the violence. He emphasized that efforts are ongoing to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.
The government called on residents to remain calm and vigilant, urging them to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
Residents were also advised to strictly comply with the curfew directive to enable security operatives to effectively maintain law and order and prevent further escalation of violence.
