Natasha Akpoti -Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has called on residents of the state to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration and voter information update exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was contained in a public awareness message issued by the lawmaker on Friday, where she urged eligible citizens, particularly youths and first-time voters, to take advantage of the exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) before the deadline announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized the importance of the PVC as a critical tool for democratic participation, noting that it empowers citizens to influence decisions that affect their communities, state, and the nation at large.
“I urge all Kogi State indigenous sons and daughters, especially our youths and first-time voters, to participate actively in the ongoing PVC registration exercise,” she said.
The senator stressed that no eligible citizen should be excluded from the electoral process, calling on those who have attained voting age to register without delay.
According to her, individuals whose voter information requires correction, transfer, or updating should also take advantage of the ongoing exercise before the July 10 deadline.
“No responsible citizen should be left out of the electoral process. Those who have attained voting age should register immediately, while those whose voter information requires correction or updating should take advantage of the ongoing exercise before the deadline,” she stated.
She further reminded residents that voting remains a fundamental civic responsibility and a powerful means of shaping the future.
“Your vote remains your voice, and your voice matters in shaping the future of our communities, our state, and our nation,” the senator added.
The voter registration and update exercise is part of efforts by INEC to ensure more eligible Nigerians are captured in the voters’ register ahead of future elections.
