ASABA — Reactions have continued to trail the recent appearance of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Arise Television, where he spoke on political developments and emerging alignments ahead of future electoral contests in the state.

The governor’s remarks have generated mixed responses among political stakeholders, supporters and residents, with some expressing support for his position while others criticized his comments and political strategy.

Several respondents described the interview as unnecessary, arguing that it may have exposed the governor to political criticism at a time when tensions within the state’s political landscape are increasing.

One stakeholder claimed that the interview showed that the governor was concerned about the growing influence of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, suggesting that his recent political decisions were influenced by calculations ahead of future elections.

Others argued that the governor risked diminishing the goodwill generated by ongoing infrastructure projects, including recent flyover developments, by engaging in political exchanges on national television.

Some commentators insisted that political outcomes would ultimately be determined by voters rather than party structures or incumbency, expressing confidence that elections in the state would reflect the wishes of the electorate.

A number of respondents also questioned why the governor appeared focused on Omo-Agege instead of addressing other potential challengers reportedly interested in contesting the governorship seat.

According to some observers, the attention given to Omo-Agege in the interview may indicate the governor’s assessment of the former Deputy Senate President as a significant political rival ahead of future contests.

However, not all reactions were critical. Some stakeholders urged political actors across party lines to embrace politics without bitterness and prioritize the development of Delta State over personal or partisan interests.

One commentator called for the adoption of a long-term development plan that would transcend political parties and administrations, arguing that governance continuity is essential for sustainable growth.

Others noted that political structures are constantly evolving, suggesting that both the governor’s political network and those of his opponents would continue to be tested as the state’s political landscape develops.

The reactions also reignited discussions about previous political alliances and rivalries in Delta State, with some commentators referencing historical political events and decisions by key actors in the state.

As debates continue, political analysts say the responses highlight the growing interest in Delta State’s political future and the significance of public engagements by leading political figures ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Governor Oborevwori has not publicly responded to the criticisms and observations that followed his Arise Television appearance.
