Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, has summoned native doctors, traditional priests and priestesses across the Benin Kingdom to an important meeting aimed at addressing the growing security challenges in Edo State and Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by Chief Victor Nosakhare on behalf of the Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, under the authority and directive of the monarch, the meeting is scheduled to hold at 12 noon on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Ogha Ozolua axis of the Oba’s Palace in Benin City.
The statement noted that the meeting should be treated with utmost urgency, as it is intended to explore traditional approaches that could complement government efforts in tackling the worsening security situation in the state and across the country.
Meanwhile, the palace has also invited youth leaders, popularly known as Okaighele, to a separate meeting slated for Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the same venue and time.
The invitation was contained in another statement issued by the same palace authority, underscoring the Oba’s continued engagement with key traditional and community stakeholders on matters affecting peace, security and development in the kingdom.
