The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, saying the decision was taken in what it described as the interest of national unity, stability, and development.
In a press statement, the party said it was backing President Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for a second term, arguing that national interest should take precedence over partisan politics.
The PDP said President Tinubu had demonstrated confidence in the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, whose leadership, according to the statement, has transformed Abuja through the execution of major infrastructure and development projects.
The party also referenced the recent FCT Area Council elections, claiming its candidates stepped down in support of the APC. It described the move as an example of political cooperation and patriotism, adding that the same approach should be extended to the 2027 general election.
According to the statement, the party recognizes the Tinubu administration’s economic reform agenda and believes that, despite the challenges and sacrifices associated with the policies, they are intended to build a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
The PDP therefore called on its members, supporters, and stakeholders nationwide to support the APC-led administration and work towards the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
The party also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and Chief Wike for what it described as their commitment to national development and the ongoing transformation of the Federal Capital Territory.
The statement concluded with a pledge of support for President Tinubu’s mandate and prayers for Nigeria, the PDP, and Chief Wike.
