The management of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has suspended seven lecturers as part of ongoing disciplinary actions over separate allegations involving unauthorized academic material sales and alleged sexual harassment.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, John Onimisi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday in Lokoja.
According to the statement, six lecturers were suspended on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, over the alleged unauthorized sale of handouts and textbooks, while another lecturer was suspended pending investigation into an allegation of sexual harassment.
“Six lecturers on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, were suspended by the management of the institution for the unauthorized sale of handouts and textbooks, while a lecturer was also suspended for alleged sexual harassment,” the statement read in part.
Onimisi said the suspensions form part of the institution’s efforts to uphold discipline and professional standards.
He also confirmed that the polytechnic is investigating additional allegations relating to misconduct within the institution, including claims of sex-for-marks, cult-related activities, and other acts of indiscipline.
According to him, the institution’s disciplinary committee has commenced a review of the allegations, and appropriate decisions will be taken based on the outcome of its findings.
“The school management is aware of the allegations, and the disciplinary committee of the Polytechnic is already investigating them. The outcome will be made available to journalists in due course,” Onimisi said.
The management has not released the identities of the suspended lecturers, and no findings have yet been announced regarding the broader allegations under investigation.
The institution reiterated its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring that all reported cases are handled in accordance with its disciplinary procedures while respecting the rights of all parties involved.
