Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, says the heavy traffic he encountered in Onitsha on Monday is a clear indication that the once-observed Monday sit-at-home in the South-East has significantly diminished.
Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit after arriving about 15 minutes behind schedule, Soludo apologised for the slight delay, explaining that he was held up in traffic while passing through Onitsha.
“I’m sorry I came in about 15 minutes late because I was stuck in traffic at Onitsha. Today is a Monday, and to have traffic at Onitsha on a Monday, the Monday sit-at-home is over,” he said.
The governor also reaffirmed the cordial relationship between Anambra and Delta states, describing Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, as a trusted friend and neighbour.
“I’m here in solidarity with you, solidarity with my neighbour, Delta State. You are the governor, a friend in whom I am well pleased any day, anytime,” Soludo stated.
He disclosed that he rescheduled the Anambra State Executive Council meeting originally fixed for Monday to enable him attend the investment summit, underscoring the importance he attached to the event.
Soludo said he was pleased to have listened to the presentations and discussions at the summit, noting that they were focused on driving economic growth, attracting investments and promoting sustainable development.
He commended Governor Oborevwori for what he described as remarkable strides in infrastructure development and socio-economic transformation, saying the initiatives have positioned Delta State as an attractive destination for investors and accelerated development.
