The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has approved the reinstatement of Comrade Victor Sorokwu as Secretary of the Council.
The reinstatement followed the fulfilment of conditions stipulated by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Union regarding Sorokwu’s recall, according to a statement signed by the Chairman of the NUJ Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
In the statement titled, “Reinstatement as Secretary, NUJ, Delta State Council,” Oyowe said the National Secretariat had approved Sorokwu’s return to duty as Secretary of the Council.
“Following the fulfilment of the conditions stipulated by the National Executive Council (NEC) regarding your recall, I am pleased to inform you that the National Secretariat has approved your reinstatement to resume your duties as Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council,” the statement said.
The NUJ chairman further advised the reinstated secretary to liaise with the Assistant Secretary, who had been acting in the capacity of Secretary, to ensure a smooth and cordial transition.
Oyowe said the transition was necessary in the interest of the Union and congratulated Sorokwu on his return to service.
“Congratulations and welcome back to service,” he said.
Copies of the reinstatement notice were sent to the Assistant Secretary, State Working Committee (SWC), State Executive Committee (SEC), and members of the NUJ, Delta State Council.
