Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State officially joined the Accord Party in a dramatic political shift announced just as his wife, First Lady Titilola Adeleke, celebrated her 60th (Diamond) birthday.
In a statement accompanying his defection, the governor explained that he joined Accord because its welfare-oriented agenda aligns with his administration’s commitment to citizen and workers’ welfare — a mission he has repeatedly stressed.
The timing of the move — coinciding with the First Lady’s milestone birthday — did not go unnoticed. Many have suggested that the defection also symbolises a tribute, or ‘gift’, to Mrs. Adeleke, underscoring a union of personal celebration and political recalibration.
Meanwhile, the First Lady of the Federal Republic, Oluremi Tinubu, took the opportunity to congratulate Mrs. Adeleke on turning 60. In a heartfelt message on her X account, she lauded Mrs. Adeleke’s work through the Renewed Hope Initiative, calling her contributions to improving the lives of Osun residents impactful and transformative.
