The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has reiterated legislative and political support for the proposed creation of Anioma State, stating that the initiative continues to receive backing at the highest levels of government.
Akpabio made this known on Wednesday while addressing party members at the South-South zonal congress of the All Progressives Congress held in Asaba, Delta State.
According to him, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to the realization of Anioma State, describing the move as part of ongoing efforts to address regional aspirations.
He further noted that Asaba is being proposed as the capital of the new Anioma State, while Warri would serve as the capital of the remaining Delta State if the restructuring is approved.
Akpabio’s remarks add fresh momentum to longstanding calls for the creation of Anioma State, a proposal that has generated significant political and public interest in recent years.
