Scripture: Matthew 20:28
“Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
This scripture captures the very purpose of Jesus Christ’s coming to earth—to serve humanity and ultimately lay down His life for our redemption.
During His time on earth, Jesus not only taught His disciples through words but also through His actions. He demonstrated what true leadership looks like—leadership rooted in humility and service.
In Luke 22:24–27, when the disciples argued about who among them was the greatest, Jesus corrected their understanding by teaching that true greatness lies in serving others. While worldly systems often equate leadership with power and authority, Christ revealed that the highest form of leadership is servanthood.
A powerful example of this is found in John 13:3–15, where Jesus humbled Himself to wash His disciples’ feet. This act remains a timeless lesson in servant leadership.
We are all leaders in different areas of life whether in our homes, workplaces, communities, or nations. As husbands, wives, parents, professionals, spiritual leaders, and public servants, we are called to follow the example of Christ by serving others selflessly rather than seeking to be served.
This kind of leadership is deeply needed in our world today—in our nations, institutions, and even within the Church. When we lead with humility and a heart to serve, we reflect the life of Christ, and in due time, the impact of such leadership will speak for itself.
May you receive the grace to live out this Christ-like servant leadership in every area of your life. Amen.
