Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has paid tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes while commending the bravery and sacrifice of serving officers and men of the Armed Forces.

In a message to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, the governor said the occasion was an opportunity to honour military personnel who laid down their lives in defence of the nation and to salute those whose ongoing sacrifices continue to safeguard Nigeria’s unity.

Governor Okpebholo called for increased support for members of the Armed Forces, as well as military widows and retirees, stressing that the nation has a moral obligation to care for those who serve and the families they leave behind.

According to him, providing adequate welfare for serving personnel and veterans is a fitting way to show gratitude for their selfless service to the country.

He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration.
