Students and staff of Ibrede Grammar School, Ibrede, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, were filled with excitement and songs of joy on Thursday, January 15, 2026, following the donation of football jerseys by the Michael Emetomor Obi (MEO) Foundation.

The jerseys were formally presented on behalf of the foundation by Mrs. Justina Ishaka, who explained that the donation was made to fulfill a promise by an old student of the school, Pastor Odemaro Samuel Obi, through the MEO Foundation. The promise followed Mrs. Ishaka’s earlier observation during the school’s 2025 Inter-House Sports Competition that Ibrede Grammar School had been unable to participate effectively in Delta State sporting activities, including the Principal’s Cup, due to the lack of football jerseys.

Speaking at the presentation, Mrs. Ishaka urged the students to take their studies seriously and strive to become good ambassadors of the school in the future. She also conveyed Pastor Samuel Obi’s assurance that the MEO Foundation would continue to support its alma mater with similar gestures.

Receiving the donation, the Principal of Ibrede Grammar School, Pastor Augustine Ogbo, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MEO Foundation. Visibly delighted, he described the gesture as a testament to the solid foundation laid by Pastor Samuel Obi during his time as a student of the school, noting that it had helped shape him into a leader and role model.

Pastor Ogbo encouraged the students to see the donation as an inspiration to work hard and, in turn, give back to their alma mater in the future.

“This is a living witness of what God is using the MEO Foundation to do in Ibrede Grammar School. Let it spur every one of you to be diligent in your studies and become worthy ambassadors of this school and the nation at large,” the Principal added.

Also speaking, the Games Master, Mr. Obi Kester, revealed that this was the first time since his transfer to the school that Ibrede Grammar School had received football jerseys.

“Not only do we have jerseys now, we have both home and away kits,” he said with excitement, while praying for God’s blessings and protection upon the donors.

Present at the event was the IGSOSA Home Branch Chairman, Hon. Reuben Okaroh, who also prayed for the continued growth and expansion of the MEO Foundation.

The Michael Emetomor Obi (MEO) Foundation, founded in March 2025, is driven by a vision to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to succeed in life. Its mission includes improving access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities; promoting peace, tolerance, and understanding among youths; and fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and social responsibility.

Among the foundation’s key objectives are the provision of scholarships and educational grants, access to quality healthcare services, mentorship and funding for young entrepreneurs, and the promotion of peace education and conflict resolution skills among young people.
