Asiwaju 2027: Edo Speaker vows to unite APC members in Owan West … Expresses gratitude to Gov Okpebholo for supporting him as Speaker.

In line with the Governor Monday Okpebholo’s desire to deliver Edo State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, this morning called on party leaders and Executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to put differences aside and focus on what will bring progress and economic prosperity to Owan West.

 

The Speaker made this known in a well attended and enlarged meeting of APC leaders and Excos meeting drawn from the 11 wards of the LGA.

 

While expressing gratitude to the Governor for supporting him, the Assembly Boss said, “we are going to unite everybody in the party. We need to be more united to achieve progress and development for our dear LGA”.

 

The meeting which was interactive, saw leaders and party excos taking turns to experess their support for the Speaker and readiness to continue to throw their weights behind Governor Monday Okpebholo.

 

“Sir (Elder) Dele Ogunleye, who spoke on behalf of the APC leaders, commended the Speaker for his developmental strides, “let me thank you because you are working. Let me assure you that on the 2.5m votes for President Bola Tinubu come 2027, is possible. We will join you and Governor Okpebholo to achieve it.

 

“Your ‘Operation Light up project initiative has brought back night life to Owan West as a result of your solar street light initiative. Economic buoyancy is trickling from the project.

“Be rest assured that, we are behind you as leaders.”

 

Hon. Monday Ogbeta another leader in the Local Government Area added that, “we are preaching unity. A house divided against itself cannot stand.

“We appreciate the State Governor for supporting our son, the Speaker.

“The 2.5m votes cannot be achieved by a section. We need everybody to achieve success for our people.”

He extolled Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, the House Leader of the Federal House of Representatives and Rt Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, the Speaker of Edo Assembly for their contributions the development of the LGA and beyond, saying, “with their developmental strides, Governor Okpebhole is going to succeed and deliver Edo for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We will work with the Speaker, Prof Ihonvbere and Governor Okpebholo ahead of 2027 re-election bid.

“You are a man of good action and God will help you to climb higher.”

 

On his part, Barr Femi Agge, the member South South Development Commission (SSDC), “the Speaker has brought the core executives at the LGA level led by Monday Oleh to the mainstream.

“Mr. Speaker, thank you so much for uniting our people.

“We have a formidable team in Owan West.

 

Barr. Richard Ofeimu, former chairman of the defunct Owan Local Government, assured the Speaker of his support, and threw his weight behind the Assembly Boss, “I want to join Speaker to sue for unity.

“I stand with those that desire unity.

“We thank the Speaker and we pledge that we will continue to work with him effectively.

Part of our resolution today is that “Owan West is a homogeneous entity with no galvanic phases”.

 

 

Mr. Samson Ojeawere, who was concise, pointed out,” let us put the past behind and work together for the interest of our people.”

 

The Council Chairman, Hon. Joy Ohonyo, shared her thoughts and said,

“The Speaker is on a mission to unite all. We must put the past behind and focus on what unites us as a people.”
